Central Workpiece holding and Indexing Unit with 5-stations. One Load station, one unload station and three other workpiece holding stations mounted upon an indexing head that presents the workpiece to each of THREE abrasive wheel units. These three units are normally arranged to be a roughing, a medium and a finishing station but can be arranged as needed.
Each station of the workholding stations is automatically lifted and oscillated up and down when presenting the workpiece to the abrasive stations so as to clear the indexing table and allow total access to the worpiece by the abrasive wheel(s).
Each of the THREE abrasive wheel units are free standing and seperate, individually driven units that can positioned anywhere around the central indexing unit. Each unit can also be rotated, tilted in two seperate axes and adjusted for height.
